"4 Deadly Affiliate Marketing Mistakes"
While the many stories in circulation about affilates earning tremendous amounts of money overnight are appealing and attractive, they are myths. Yes, this does happen, but not as often as we are led to believe. Most of the successes written about are people did everything that they could possibly do to ensure their success, "So as ye reap, so will ye sow...". They worked tirelessly, endlessly and now they are enjoying the kind of existance that is only possilbe through extraordinary circumstances. These people know that there is absolutely no easy money involved in affiliate marketing. Most of the people who have failed at internet business because they have ignored this. They keep running around trying to make fast, easy cash, only to be bamboozled time and time again. They never seem to work. So, they jump in to try a new system called 'Affiliate Marketing'. They've heard stories of overnight millionaires and the "great riches" that can be had by being an affiliate marketer. They don't hear about those who have wasted time, effort and resources trying to find the "golden cow" that they believe will come to them. Not once stopping to think about the mistakes that they will undoubtedly make and will be their downfall.
Affiliate marketing is not as simple as it first may seem. Many new affiliates think that just by putting up a simple website and placing tons of banners/links to programs will result in infinite riches. This is not totally true. Affiliate marketing is also about knowing the market. What's hot, what's not. Understanding the mistakes often made by affiliates can lead to dispelling some of the myths. It is just like any other business in the fact that there are dos and don'ts involved. The first mistake is in the advertising that the affiliate does. Everyone knows that to effectively market an affiliate program, you need to advertise. Search engines are the number one area to focus on when advertising your affiliate program. The affiliate needs to make these search engines his "best friend" by studying how to best utilize keywords and search engine optimization. By doing this, he can ultimately build a website that is far better suited for use with his business. The second mistake most affiliates make is not providing enough useful and relevant information about the product or service. They seem to think that just by stuffing the page with flashy, colorful banners they will attract sales. While the page might look pretty, it does nothing for giving potential customers information about the product. A good way to solve this problem is to provide good content along with a couple of strategically placed banners or links. The third mistake is only promoting ONE item. By doing so, these affiliates are not giving their customers a variety of options to choose from. The more items that are offered, the more likely customers are to purchase. When you go into a store, most of the time they don't offer only one item, do they? No, they offer different items. As should affiliate marketers. The fourth mistake kind of ties in with the last mistake. While promoting only one item is not a good idea, neither is promoting too many products. Customers then are confused by all of the choices being given and end up choosing nothing. Therefore, I suggest only offering one or two of the best products available. These are only a few of the mistakes that affiliates can make in this industry. But these are the most common ones. All in all, the only affiliates who are doomed to failure are the ones who do not pay attention to what is happening in the industry that they are in.
Understanding the steps needed to ensure success will only prove to be beneficial to them in the long run. Michelle A.
